Manny Pacquiao confirms boxing comeback in Las Vegas this January 2026

Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao has officially announced his return to the ring on January 24, 2026, in Las Vegas, marking his comeback after a four-year retirement.

In a video released by Indistry Media, Pacquiao — who turns 47 this December — confirmed the date, saying, “Hello to all my boxing fans. I’m excited to let you know that I will be returning to the ring January 24th in Las Vegas.” The announcement quickly went viral across social media platforms.

According to Philstar.com, no opponent has been confirmed, but World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight champion Rolly Romero is reportedly leading the shortlist to face the eight-division world champion. Romero’s aggressive fighting style and his WBA title have made him the frontrunner for the highly anticipated match.

Pacquiao revealed that negotiations with Romero’s camp are ongoing, saying last week during a media event for the “Thrilla in Manila 2” countdown, “We’re still negotiating, but we’re just finalizing it.”

The boxing icon will once again aim to break his own record as the oldest welterweight champion in history — a feat he first achieved in 2019 after defeating Keith Thurman for the same title at 40 years old.

Pacquiao’s most recent fight took place on July 19, 2025, also in Las Vegas, where he faced Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight belt. The bout ended in a majority draw, leaving Barrios to retain his crown.

Ending his announcement, Pacquiao assured fans of more updates soon, saying, “It is going to be an exciting and special event. Stay tuned, more news to come on my opponent in the next few days. Thank you everyone.”
