Manila City Mayor awards P2 million to Carlos Yulo for double gold in Paris Olympics

Manila City Mayor Honey Lacuna and Vice Mayor Yul Servo Nieto recently awarded gymnast Carlos Yulo a P2 million cash incentive in recognition of his historic double gold medal victories at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Manila City Council also declared August 4 as “Carlos Yulo Day” to honor Yulo’s remarkable achievements.

Carlos Yulo, a proud native of Manila, made history as the first Filipino to win two Olympic gold medals. The special day, celebrated annually on August 4th, marks the date of Yulo’s first gold medal win at the Paris Games. The city government of Manila will organize various programs and activities to honor Yulo and encourage the youth to follow their athletic aspirations. Though a significant day of recognition, it is not considered a public holiday.
