Police authorities have arrested a man wanted for qualified trafficking in persons at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3.
According to a 24 Oras report on Friday, the suspect was apprehended based on a warrant of arrest issued over a complaint filed by two female victims. The women claimed that they were deceived with promises of employment in India or Spain.
Police Regional Office 4A Director PBGen. Paul Kenneth Lucas said the suspect allegedly targeted women “with good looks,” asking for a total of ₱105,000 each for placement and airfare. “Kapag nakapag-down payment na itong mga biktima, dadalhin nila sa isang spa sa Pasay para daw sa isang OJT,” Lucas explained.
The victims later discovered that the supposed on-the-job training was a front for prostitution. “Nagulat na lang itong mga complainant natin na marami silang mga kasama doon, na nagmamasahe, eventually nagkakaroon ng extra service,” Lucas added.
The two women managed to escape with the help of a customer and filed a formal complaint against the suspect.
Authorities said other accomplices—including a woman, two police officers, and an Indian national—had been previously arrested in connection with the case.
The suspect, who was captured at the airport, will face charges for qualified trafficking in persons. The Calabarzon police added that he also has pending cases for illegal recruitment, estafa, and rape.
