An Indonesian man discovered that his spouse of 12 days was not who they claimed to be, leading to a shocking revelation of fraud and deception.
The South China Morning Post reported that the man, identified as AK, 26, met Adinda Kanza, also 26, on social media in 2023. The couple soon began meeting in person, though Kanza always wore traditional Muslim attire covering the face, citing religious devotion.
Despite Kanza’s claim of having no family to attend their wedding, the couple got married last April. Kanza even provided five grams of gold as dowry, though they did not officially register their marriage certificate.
AK became suspicious when Kanza avoided interacting with his family and continued wearing veiled attire at home. Additionally, Kanza frequently made excuses to avoid intimacy, claiming health issues.
AK’s suspicions were confirmed when he discovered that Kanza was actually a man named ESH, who had been cross-dressing since 2020. ESH’s parents were unaware of AK’s existence as their supposed son-in-law.
Police noted that ESH convincingly resembled a woman, especially while wearing makeup, and had a somewhat high-pitched voice. According to the SCMP, although ESH has dated women, he may have enjoyed impersonating a woman while dating men.
ESH has been arrested and is facing fraud charges, with a potential prison sentence of up to four years.
