A tragic incident unfolded in Yar Hussain, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where a man allegedly shot and killed his four minor children before taking his own life early Thursday, according to police reports.
Station House Officer (SHO) Abdul Wali stated that neighbors alerted authorities after discovering the bodies. The father was found with a gunshot wound to the head, while rescue teams recovered the children’s bodies from his home and transported them to the tehsil headquarters hospital.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute. The man’s wife had left for her parents’ home, and his efforts to reconcile with her had failed. A local jirga member, Awwal Sher Khan, revealed that the man had sent his two-year-old daughter to his wife two days prior, but after she returned the child, his frustration escalated into violence.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
This case is part of a concerning pattern of similar tragedies in Pakistan. In December, a man in Bahawalnagar killed his wife and daughter before ending his own life over an alleged “honour” dispute. In May 2024, another man in Faisalabad murdered his two wives and four children before taking his own life.
