Man killed over karaoke argument in Cavite; suspect on the run

A videoke session turned tragic in Gen. Trias City, Cavite, on Monday night, January 6, when one man was killed and another injured following a violent altercation, Inquirer.net reported.

Police reports identified the victims as James Bryan Luna, 34, and Aldrin Toribio, 19. The two were drinking and singing karaoke in Barangay Santiago around 11 p.m. when a “bantay-bayan” volunteer, identified only as “Johnson,” approached them to request that they lower their music, which was disturbing nearby residents.

Instead of complying, Luna and Toribio reportedly became hostile, leading to a heated argument with Johnson. The confrontation escalated into a fistfight, during which Johnson allegedly stabbed the two men. He fled the scene immediately afterward.

The victims were rushed to Gen. Trias Medical Center, where Luna succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. Toribio remains hospitalized.

Authorities have launched a manhunt operation for Johnson, while an investigation into the incident continues.
