Man jailed for drunk driving without a license in Dubai

A court has sentenced an Asian man to one month in jail after he was caught driving without a license and under the influence of alcohol on a main road in Dubai.

According to a Gulf Today report, the incident occurred in October last year when a police patrol stopped the suspect’s vehicle on Sheikh Zayed Road due to reckless driving. Upon questioning, the man admitted he had no UAE driving license and had taken the vehicle without the owner’s permission.

Authorities conducted a precautionary search of the car and found no illegal substances. However, noticing the suspect’s slurred speech, officers administered an alcohol test, which confirmed he was intoxicated. He was immediately arrested.

Official records reveal that the defendant had consumed alcohol before taking his friend’s car without consent. He was heading to a shopping mall in Dubai Marina when he was apprehended.

The Dubai Court of Misdemeanors handed down a one-month jail term for his offenses.
