An Indian expatriate, who had eagerly awaited the arrival of his family in Dubai after 15 years of living in the UAE, tragically passed away from a heart attack on the very day they landed in the country, Khaleej Times reported.
The man, whose identity remains undisclosed, had meticulously planned activities for his family’s visit, excited to finally reunite with them in Dubai. Ashraf Thamarassery, a social worker, shared that despite the man’s long tenure in the UAE, this marked the first time he could bring his family over, a moment he had been eagerly saving for.
However, their joyous reunion quickly turned into tragedy when the man experienced severe chest pain during lunch on the day of their arrival. Despite immediate medical attention, he could not be saved.
The grieving family, forced to confront this sudden loss, had to cut short their visit, departing Dubai within three days. Following necessary procedures, including paperwork and formalities, the man’s body was repatriated, and his funeral was solemnly conducted last week.
Ashraf lamented the swift turn of events, highlighting the stark contrast between the family’s anticipation of a joyful vacation and the sudden loss of their beloved patriarch.
In the UAE, expatriate deaths involve a series of administrative steps, from filing initial reports to obtaining death certificates and no objection certificates (NOCs) for repatriation, adding further burdens to grieving families already coping with immense loss.
