A man in Dubai is facing legal complaints after a viral video showed him violently attacking his pet dog on a balcony in Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC).
The footage, captured from a neighboring building, shows the man kicking a French bulldog before sitting on the terrified animal and appearing to choke it with his legs. A concerned neighbor can be heard in the background warning that the incident would be reported to police.
The video, which quickly spread online, prompted multiple reports to Dubai Police, Emirates Animal Welfare Society, and Dubai Municipality. Authorities have since intervened, and according to online posts, the dog has been rescued and the man arrested.
Adding another twist to the story, a woman claiming to be the dog’s previous owner said on social media that she is traveling from Spain to Dubai to reclaim the pet.
Social media users expressed outrage over the abuse, with many demanding strict punishment for the man and praising the community members who helped secure the dog’s safety.
“This is absolutely disgusting and unacceptable,” one comment read. “Animal abuse is a crime, and this person needs to be held accountable.”
Calls for harsher penalties and lifetime bans on pet ownership were echoed across the internet, as people thanked both the neighbor who raised the alarm and the volunteers who acted quickly to protect the dog.
