A South Korean man has been arrested for the murder of his girlfriend, whose body was hidden on his balcony for 16 years. The man, now in his 50s, confessed to killing the woman in October 2008 during an argument, striking her with a blunt object, according to Gyeongnam Provincial Police.
After the murder, he concealed the body in a travel bag and entombed it under a 10-centimeter layer of cement on his balcony. The woman wasn’t reported missing until 2011, as she had lost contact with her family. At the time, the man claimed they had broken up, leaving the case unresolved.
The body was discovered last month when a worker inspecting for water leaks found the bag. Police identified the woman through her preserved fingerprints and arrested the man, who confessed to the crime. He is expected to be prosecuted soon.
