A man was arrested after shooting a nine-year-old boy in the chest following a dispute involving his child in Navotas City.
According to Unang Balita report, citing the authorities, the altercation started when a group of children got into a fight, which escalated into punching and kicking. One of the children reported the incident to his father, who then gathered his friends to confront the kids involved.
The suspect, along with two companions, confronted the children at Palengke Avenue. During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly pulled out a gun and aimed it at a child’s head. The boy ducked, but the firearm discharged, hitting another child in the chest. The victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Following a manhunt operation, police tracked down the suspect at his residence after a minor, who was initially threatened, identified him. The suspect did not resist arrest.
The suspect claimed he acted out of anger after his child came home crying but insisted that he did not intend to cause harm. Authorities said he used an improvised firearm purchased from a local street dweller.
He has been charged with frustrated murder, while police continue to search for his two accomplices.
