Authorities have apprehended a man accused of disseminating private photos and videos of his former girlfriend. As reported by Jun Veneracion on GMA News “24 Oras” this Friday, the suspect was unable to resist arrest during an entrapment operation conducted by the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group.
According to the victim, the suspect had sent her private images and videos to her relatives during their breakups. The couple had reconciled several times until their final separation this December. This time, the suspect allegedly sent the private content to the victim’s colleague, prompting her to file a complaint.
The victim expressed her distress, stating, “It would have been slightly better if my face wasn’t visible in those pictures and videos. But there were so many. He utterly trampled on my dignity as a woman.”
The suspect now faces multiple charges, including violations of the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act and Grave Coercion.
PNP-ACG Cyber Response Unit Chief Police Colonel Jay Guillermo explained, “The use of ICT (Information and Communications Technology) increases the severity of the crime. So, if the penalty is originally 6 to 12 years, it could escalate to 12 to 20 years if convicted by the court.”
