A man has been arrested in Kern County, California, facing charges related to the removal and consumption of a human leg from a recent train accident. According to PEOPLE Magazine, Resendo Tellez is charged with one misdemeanor for “removal of human remains from other than a cemetery,” possessing controlled substance paraphernalia, and a felony charge for probation violation.
The incident occurred last Friday, March 22, in Wasco, California, where Tellez was reportedly seen retrieving a leg from the site of a fatal train collision. The identity of the deceased is still unknown, and it remains unclear if the leg belonged to the victim of this accident.
Eyewitnesses told KBAK, a CBS affiliate, that they saw Tellez “waving what appeared to be a human leg around and biting it.” One witness described the scene, noting Tellez’s actions of chewing on the leg and using it to hit against a wall.
Tellez was apprehended on the day of the incident and is scheduled for a court appearance on Tuesday, March 26.
