Malacañang hopes Iglesia Ni Cristo peace rally clarifies national issues

Malacañang expressed optimism on Monday that the “National Rally for Peace” organized by Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) will help shed light on pressing national issues.

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin emphasized the importance of peaceful assembly, a right enshrined in the 1987 Constitution and upheld by the Marcos administration.

“We see these gatherings as part of a national conversation that can lead to clarity and consensus on the challenges our country faces,” Bersamin stated.

The peace rallies, taking place in 13 locations nationwide, are expected to be peaceful and orderly. Bersamin expressed hope that the event would foster unity and address societal concerns.

He also directed government agencies to assist in maintaining order and providing support where needed. “Agencies concerned with peace, order, traffic, transportation, and emergency services must be ready to aid citizens if necessary,” he said.

The INC rally, which began drawing crowds at Manila’s Quirino Grandstand on Sunday evening, aims to back President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s position against the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte. Despite political differences, Marcos has dismissed the impeachment efforts as unproductive.

Vice President Duterte, meanwhile, welcomed the complaints, expressing confidence in addressing the allegations against her. Three impeachment cases have been filed in the House of Representatives.

INC leaders hope the rally will contribute to resolving issues and promoting peace and unity across the nation.
