Malacañang flags VP Sara Duterte’s remarks as ‘active threat’ against President Marcos

Malacañang has issued a strong response to Vice President Sara Duterte’s controversial remarks about hiring an assassin to target President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and Speaker Martin Romualdez if an alleged plot against her life were to succeed.

In a statement released on Saturday, Malacañang described Duterte’s words as a direct and active threat to the President’s life.

“The Vice President’s clear and unequivocal statement that she had contracted an assassin to kill the President if an alleged plot against her succeeds is an active threat to the life of the President,” the Palace said. “The Executive Secretary has referred this active threat to the Presidential Security Command for immediate proper action.”

The Presidential Security Command (PSC) has been tasked with assessing the situation and implementing necessary measures to ensure the safety of the President, the First Lady, and other individuals mentioned in Duterte’s statement.
