Majority of Marcos administration’s priority bills approved, says PLLO chief

The 19th Congress has been praised for its legislative achievements, with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s legislative affairs adviser commending lawmakers for their cooperation in passing key administration-backed bills.

Mark Llandro Mendoza, head of the Presidential Legislative Liaison Office (PLLO), highlighted in a PhilStar Global report that around 70 to 75 percent of priority measures had been approved, citing bipartisan collaboration as a key factor in the legislative success.

“In fairness to the 19th Congress, both the majority and minority cooperated, and we were able to pass high-impact bills. Even the minority’s inputs were accommodated,” Mendoza said.

The Congress went on recess starting February 7 for the midterm election campaign period and is set to resume session on June 2 before adjourning on June 14. Mendoza acknowledged that pending priority bills under the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) are unlikely to pass within the remaining sessions, as lawmakers usually focus on local measures post-elections.

According to PLLO records, over 80 measures have been enacted so far under the 19th Congress.
