Majority of Filipinos dissatisfied with Marcos Jr. admin’s handling of inflation, poverty—Pulse Asia

A Pulse Asia survey shows that 66% of Filipinos are unhappy with how the Marcos Jr. administration is addressing inflation, which remains the top national concern. While worry over rising prices dipped slightly from April to June, frustration remains high as inflation picked up again in June 2025.

More than half of respondents (54%) also disapprove of the government’s efforts to fight poverty. A separate SWS survey found that half of Filipino families still consider themselves poor, though there was a notable increase in those who now see themselves as “not poor.”

Public concern over workers’ pay rose sharply by 17 points, with 51% citing it as an urgent issue, following Congress’ failure to pass a legislated wage hike last month.

Despite criticism in key areas like corruption and hunger, Pulse Asia noted that the administration received positive marks for its handling of disaster response, OFW welfare, and support for farmers.

The survey was conducted from June 26 to 30, ahead of President Marcos’ upcoming State of the Nation Address.
