The managing operator of the popular draw Mahzooz, Ewings, announced plans for new ventures following the UAE’s decision to award The Game LLC as the country’s first licensed lottery operator.
“Although we have not been awarded the national lottery license in the UAE, we are, of course, planning exciting new ventures and we look forward to sharing more details soon,” Ewings stated on Sunday.
Earlier this year, both Mahzooz and Emirates Draw paused operations due to a government directive. The companies confirmed to Khaleej Times that they had applied to become the UAE’s licensed lottery operator. Ewings described the decision not to grant them the license as “disappointing” and acknowledged they were informed through official channels.
Despite maintaining their workforce in anticipation of a favorable outcome, Ewings respected the selection process. They emphasized the company’s contributions over the past three years, including 161 live draws, creating 66 millionaires, and awarding over AED 500 million to more than 2 million players. Additionally, Mahzooz has supported various charitable causes in healthcare, education, and the environment.
The new regulatory framework established by the GCGRA aims to protect consumers and ensure the fairness and transparency of all commercial gaming activities, including lotteries. The Game LLC is set to offer a range of lottery and other games catering to diverse interests and financial preferences.
