‘Magtulungan naman tayo’: Filipinos urged to keep OFW Lounge clean

Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) using the designated lounge at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) are being reminded to maintain cleanliness after using the facility. A recent social media post by a user named Ka Gerwin has raised concerns over the unclean state of the lounge, with tables left cluttered with plastic cups and plates.

In his post, Ka Gerwin shared a photo of the lounge with discarded items left behind and urged his fellow OFWs to take better care of the facility. He emphasized the importance of responsible behavior, stating, “Pakisuyong alagaan natin ang ating OFW Lounge. Naiintindihan natin na libre ang pagkain, pero sana huwag nating abusuhin ito.”

He further urged OFWs to finish the food they take and dispose of waste properly, adding, “Pagkatapos kumain, pakisuyong linisin ang ating kinainan at itapon sa basurahan. Tayo ay dapat na magpakita ng magandang asal.”

In response, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Administrator echoed the call for discipline, highlighting that the behavior reflects on the new image of Filipinos. “Magtulungan naman tayo. Bagong Pilipinas, bagong Filipino na dapat… di rin ito gawain ng bagong bayani,” the administrator noted.

The OFW Lounges at NAIA were established to offer a comfortable space for OFWs to rest and access essential services while in transit. These lounges provide amenities such as comfortable seating, restrooms, charging stations, and even complimentary food and beverages.
