American rapper Macklemore, whose real name is Benjamin Hammond Haggerty, has canceled his upcoming show in Dubai, originally set for October 4 at the Coca-Cola Arena. Known for hits like “Thrift Shop,” Macklemore was also scheduled to perform at the same venue last October.
Macklemore gained international attention earlier this year with the release of his song “Hind’s Hall,” which centers on the Palestinian theme and is dedicated to Hind Rajab, a 6-year-old Palestinian girl who was killed in Gaza while awaiting rescue. The song’s title reflects the global student protests that followed her death.
Ticketholders have been informed of the cancellation by Platinum List, which stated that all refunds would be processed automatically within 21 working days. The event listing has already been removed from the Coca-Cola Arena’s website. As of now, neither Macklemore nor Platinum List UAE has commented publicly on the cancellation.
