The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has ordered lady rider Alyana Mari “Yanna” Aguinaldo to explain her actions in a road rage incident that went viral on social media and has suspended her driver’s license for 90 days.
The altercation, which occurred along a rough road in Zambales, was captured in a video Aguinaldo herself posted on Facebook on April 29. It showed her overtaking a slow-moving Nissan Navara and flashing a middle finger at the driver. The two later engaged in a heated argument by the roadside.
LTO Chief Vigor Mendoza II confirmed that Aguinaldo has been issued a show cause order and must appear at the LTO headquarters in Quezon City on May 6 to provide a written explanation. “She should have used her social media influence to promote responsible driving and road safety,” Mendoza stated.
Senator JV Ejercito also weighed in on the incident, stressing that public apologies must be followed by appropriate disciplinary action. “We should never tolerate this kind of behavior,” he said in a Facebook post. “Yanna should learn from this incident.”
Aguinaldo has since apologized in a video, saying, “This issue is all on me. I am still learning—this one especially, the hard way.”
