Several businesses in the Philippines have humorously extended offers to dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo, who reportedly fled the country amid numerous complaints and legal challenges. The offers come in response to reports that Guo, also known as Guo Hua Ping, left the Philippines and traveled to Malaysia and Singapore.
Opposition Senator Risa Hontiveros revealed on Monday that Guo left the country on July 17 and arrived in Malaysia the following day, later meeting her parents in Singapore. Despite these reports, a lawyer claimed to have encountered Guo in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan, on August 14, where she allegedly notarized a legal document.
Bureau of Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco confirmed that Guo’s departure is not recorded in the agency’s system, though her name appears on the immigration lookout bulletin issued by the Department of Justice. Guo faces a non-bailable human trafficking charge and other legal issues related to Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).
As authorities continue their investigation, several businesses have taken a lighthearted approach, offering Guo various perks if she returns to the country. From free meals to lifetime gym access, the offers range from the practical to the humorous, all aimed at encouraging the former mayor to come back.
While President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has vowed to hold accountable those who aided in Guo’s alleged escape, local brands have joined in on the social media buzz, making playful jabs at the situation and inviting the embattled mayor to claim her freebies in person.
