As the UAE experiences a heatwave, residents received a pleasant surprise with light rains offering a break from the intense heat.
In Fujairah, early morning showers against the city’s mountainous backdrop provided a refreshing change. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) had alerted residents about the possibility of light rains along the Eastern coast on Sunday.
Videos shared by Storm Centre show heavy drizzles and light rains in different parts of the city.
The NCM issued a yellow alert due to rough seas and fresh winds reaching up to 40 km/h, blowing in a northwesterly direction. Residents have been advised to be cautious during outdoor activities.
The sea conditions are expected to be rough, with waves reaching up to six feet in the Arabian Gulf from 1 am Sunday until 1 am Monday.
This morning, the lowest temperature recorded in the country was 26.1°C in Al Heben Mountain, Ras Al Khaimah, at 7:15 am.
Light to moderate winds, which may freshen at times, are predicted to cause blowing dust and sand, potentially reducing horizontal visibility.
Temperatures are expected to reach up to 41°C in Abu Dhabi and 43°C in Dubai. Humidity levels could drop to 15 percent in the mountains and rise to 80 percent in coastal areas and islands.
