Amid the unfolding controversy involving Congressman Albee Benitez, his son, actor and public servant Javi Benitez, has broken his silence, expressing deep concern for his family while urging the public to seek truth and show compassion.
In a heartfelt statement posted on social media, Javi said, “Ayoko na sanang magsalita, pero alam kong hindi ko rin ito maiwasan,” acknowledging the difficulty of staying silent amid the growing attention surrounding his parents’ dispute.
Congressman Benitez is currently facing a legal complaint filed by his estranged wife Dominique Benitez, alleging infidelity and emotional abuse. The issue has since drawn widespread media coverage, further amplified by the public involvement of actress and vlogger Ivana Alawi—whose name was linked in the complaint but who has denied any wrongdoing.
Javi chose not to delve into specifics but noted, “Ang mga totoong nakakaalam ng buong kwento… tahimik lang. Hindi sila nasa balita. Hindi rin sila nagpo-post,” underscoring that the full picture may not be visible to the public.
His appeal centered on hope for understanding between his parents—not as a couple—but as co-parents to him and his sister, Bettina. He also shared a personal wish for them to eventually find love that’s rooted in respect and genuine partnership, not based on wealth, status, or appearances.
In the post, Javi also thanked those who offered support quietly, saying, “Salamat. Alam ko, hindi lang kami ang may ganitong sitwasyon pero sana maayos din sa huli.”
He concluded by encouraging Filipinos to rise above gossip, misinformation, and media noise, urging, “Move on na tayo sa chismis, fake news, at paid drama… Doon tayo mag-invest ng energy.” For him, the true measure of a person lies not in views or wealth, but “ang puso.”
