Leni Robredo meets with Makabayan slate, extends support for May 12 race

Former Vice President Leni Robredo recently welcomed Makabayan bloc senatorial candidates France Castro and Arlene Brosas in her home province of Camarines Sur, expressing support and well wishes for their campaign in the May 12 elections.

The meeting took place ahead of the Makabayan coalition’s miting-de-avance in the province. According to Makabayan campaign manager Renato Reyes, it was a short but meaningful encounter. “They wished each other good luck… and we thank the former Vice President for her warm welcome,” Reyes said.

Castro and Brosas are part of the 12-member Makabayan slate, which also includes Jerome Adonis, Alyn Andamo, Ronnel Arambulo, Teddy Casiño, Mimi Doringo, Mody Floranda, Amirah Lidasan, Liza Maza, and Danilo Ramos.

Earlier, Robredo also received a visit from former senator and boxing icon Manny Pacquiao, who is mounting a Senate comeback under the administration ticket. The two were former rivals in the 2022 presidential election.

Sharing their reunion in Naga City, Robredo fondly recalled how Pacquiao once offered her his bulletproof vehicle during the campaign season for her safety. “We were already political opponents at that time, but he still offered help. His kindness is real,” Robredo said.
