Leila de Lima vows continued support for EJK victims’ families: ‘I will not back down’

Representative-elect Leila de Lima has reaffirmed her commitment to stand by the families of extrajudicial killing (EJK) victims, declaring that her fight for justice will persist well beyond the campaign trail.

“The fight for justice does not end with the elections,” De Lima wrote in a Facebook post, as she pledged to dedicate her new term as Mamamayang Liberal party-list representative to those left behind by the drug war.

De Lima recently attended a Thanksgiving Mass in Barangay Payatas, Quezon City, where she reunited with bereaved families from Payatas, Commonwealth, Montalban, Camarin, and Bagong Silangan. The event was also attended by Fr. Danny Pilario, Fr. Bong Serabia, Fr. Joel Saballa, and ML volunteers.

“I once again faced mothers who lost their children, children who lost their parents, and families who continue to suffer under a bloody regime,” she said. “And with each of them, I stand firm: I will not back down. I will not be silenced. Just as you never abandoned me, I will never abandon you.”

De Lima emphasized that as long as there are people willing to speak out for truth, their collective fight will live on — for justice, for dignity, and for hope.

She has also been invited to participate in the House panel that will handle the impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte once it reaches the Senate.
