Former Senator Leila De Lima on Friday requested official documents from the Supreme Court (SC) after her name was linked to a case involving Demosthenes Tecson, a disbarred lawyer. De Lima expressed strong objection to being implicated in the case, which she claims is unrelated to her.
The SC had released a statement on February 19, mentioning Tecson’s alleged misappropriation of funds from a court award, part of which was allegedly used for De Lima’s senatorial campaign. However, De Lima denied any connection to Tecson, stating she did not know him and had no involvement in his misconduct.
De Lima also called for a public clarification from the SC, urging the Court to correct the press release, which she described as exposing her to unjust accusations. She emphasized the need for fairness in the case and promised to take legal action to protect her reputation.
