LeBron James is stepping into a whole new court—this time, the plastic pink world of Barbie.
Mattel announced that the NBA superstar will be the face of its latest Ken doll, marking a major first as the brand’s inaugural “Kenbassador.” The toy giant cited James’ “positive impact on culture, style and community” over the past 20 years as the reason behind the tribute.
The LeBron James Kenbassador Doll, part of the Barbie Signature collection, will hit select Target shelves and major online retailers next week with a $75 (around Php4,300) price tag. The figure stands slightly taller than the usual Ken and is decked out in a varsity jacket, Nike sneakers, and Beats headphones.
“As a young kid, I was fortunate to have role models who not only inspired me, but also showed me what’s possible through hard work and dedication,” James said. “Now, as an adult, I understand how vital it is for young people to have positive figures to look up to.”
Krista Berger, senior vice president of Barbie and global head of dolls, described the collaboration as a celebration of the Lakers forward’s iconic status. “We are excited to bring fans a new presentation of Ken that celebrates LeBron as a role model… and dedication to setting a positive example for the next generation to reach their limitless potential,” she said.
At 40, LeBron James continues to redefine greatness—both on the basketball court and, now, on Barbie’s toy shelf.
