Motorists who leave their cars abandoned or dirty in public areas across Abu Dhabi now face fines of up to Dh4,000, according to the Department of Municipalities and Transport.
Authorities reminded vehicle owners to avoid leaving their cars unattended in a way that affects the city’s overall appearance. This includes vehicles covered in dust, broken-down cars, or abandoned frames left on streets and parking areas.
The updated penalties follow Law No. 2 of 2012 and increase with repeated offenses. First-time violators will be fined Dh1,000, while a second offense will result in a Dh2,000 penalty. A third violation will lead to a Dh4,000 fine.
Officials have previously carried out campaigns to address the issue, urging residents to maintain the cleanliness of their vehicles and avoid contributing to visual clutter in public spaces.
