Lea Salonga to be immortalized with wax figure at Madame Tussauds Singapore

Lea Salonga, the celebrated Filipino theater icon, is set to join the ranks of Madame Tussauds Singapore with her own wax figure. In a video shared on Madame Tussauds’ official Instagram account, Salonga is seen meeting with the team and undergoing the intricate process of measurements for the creation of her figure.

“It’s an absolute honor and a privilege. It’s fantastic,” Lea expressed during the session. She also addressed her supporters, saying, “Hi everybody. I’m super excited to be joining Madame Tussauds with my very own wax figure. Are you ready?”

Salonga rose to international fame with her role as the original Kim in the musical “Miss Saigon,” earning her the distinction of being the first Filipino to win both a Tony and a Laurence Olivier Award. Her illustrious career includes starring in “Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends” in the West End and her 2023 Broadway comeback in “Here Lies Love,” portraying Aurora Aquino.

Beyond theater, Lea is known for providing the singing voices of Disney Princesses Jasmine in “Aladdin” and Mulan. She also appeared in the 2021 series “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin.”

Lea Salonga joins other Filipino celebrities such as Pia Wurtzbach, Catriona Gray, and Manny Pacquiao in having wax figures at Madame Tussauds. Anne Curtis is also set to receive her own figure soon.
