During a House hearing on the proposed 2025 budget for the Office of the Vice President, Representative Raoul Manuel pointed out several mistakes in the children’s book “Isang Kaibigan,” authored by Vice President Sara Duterte.
Manuel noted inaccuracies such as the term “dahon ng Banahaw,” suggesting it should be “Anahaw,” and grammatical errors like the use of “sila” instead of “sina,” and the lack of a hyphen in “walang awa.”
When Manuel inquired about the book’s editor, Duterte jokingly replied, “The name of the editor of the book is Raoul Manuel,” later clarifying it was a joke. The book, intended for distribution to students, has a budget allocation of P10 million.
The House committee on appropriations decided to defer further deliberations on the OVP budget until September 10, 2024.
