Lambanog named world’s second-best spirit by TasteAtlas, surpassing Islay Scotch and Armagnac

Filipino drink Lambanog has been named the world’s second-best spirit by the online food and travel guide TasteAtlas, outshining Scotland’s Islay Scotch, Serbia’s Viljamovka, and France’s Armagnac. TasteAtlas lauds Lambanog for its potent qualities, highlighting its traditional roots and modern appeal. This clear, colorless spirit, derived from the fermented sap of the coconut palm, boasts an alcohol content of around 40% ABV.

Traditionally, Lambanog was crafted by local farmers in a manner akin to moonshine, primarily in the Quezon province where it remains a cultural staple. However, the shift towards factory production has notably enhanced its quality. Whether savored neat, as is customary, or mixed into cocktails, Lambanog’s versatility and unique flavor profile have earned it international acclaim.

This recognition follows its ranking as the 10th Best Spirit in the World by TasteAtlas last year.
