Emman Atienza, daughter of TV host Kim Atienza, recently responded to criticism over a viral video that showed her and her friends allegedly spending P133,000 on a Japanese dinner.
In a TikTok post, Emman clarified that they did not pay for the meal themselves. “We didn’t pay for that. We were celebrating my friend’s birthday, and her agency treated us to dinner,” she explained.
Emman also defended the idea of spending hard-earned money, saying, “Even if I had paid that amount, it’s our choice and our freedom to spend the money we earned however we want.”
She addressed calls for her to redistribute her money by comparing it to winning the lottery. “Hypothetically, if you won the lottery and received 1 million pesos, would you give all that money to everyone around you? No,” she remarked.
Emman also pointed out the apparent double standards, noting that the same publication praising a celebrity attending a luxury event criticized her for the dinner. “Hate on me for being rich, but apply the same standards to everyone,” she said.
