A Kuwaiti criminal court has sentenced a citizen to three years in prison with hard labor and fined him 5,000 Kuwaiti dinars after finding him guilty of violating public morals and promoting indecency through videos posted on Snapchat.
The verdict came after confidential investigations by the Interior Ministry’s Cybercrime Department revealed that the man engaged in “immoral acts” and used his social media platform to encourage what authorities called deviant behavior.
Prosecutors presented recorded clips and electronic correspondence as evidence, which the court accepted as proof of his intent. The Cybercrime Department described the content as a “blatant violation of societal values” and a “serious breach of the law,” stressing the importance of imposing the maximum penalty to deter others and protect the country’s moral fabric.
The defendant, whose identity was withheld, retains the right to appeal the decision.
