Kuwait recalls selected batches of S-26 AR Gold infant formula over safety concerns

Kuwaiti authorities have ordered the withdrawal of selected lots of an infant formula product after being notified of a potential contamination risk flagged through a European food safety channel.

The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition said the action followed a notification from the manufacturer in France transmitted via the European Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF). The authority described the move as a voluntary, limited recall intended to protect consumers while assessments continue.

In a notice issued Wednesday, January 14, the regulator advised parents and caregivers to verify batch codes on S-26 AR Gold products and to discontinue use if they match the identified lots. Consumers were told that any affected product should be discarded.

The batches named by the authority are:

Batch No. 5125080661, with an expiry date of 27/10/2026 (production date: 05/05/2025)

Batch No. 5185080661, with an expiry date of 26/12/2026 (production date: 04/07/2025)

Batch No. 5330080661, currently in transit and placed under company hold

One batch with an expiry date of 20/05/2027 (production date: 26/11/2025)

The recalled product is S-26 AR Gold infant formula, sold in 400-gram packs and intended for infants aged 0 to 12 months.

Kuwait’s decision comes amid wider regional and international action linked to infant nutrition products manufactured by Nestlé. The company initiated recalls last week covering certain batches of SMA, BEBA, and NAN formulas after a toxin capable of causing nausea and vomiting was detected in an ingredient supplied by a partner.

Following that discovery, recalls were extended to at least 37 countries, with authorities in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar also pulling affected products from shelves. Nestlé said there have been no confirmed cases of illness linked to the recalled items and stated that the withdrawals were carried out “out of an abundance of caution,” alongside a global advisory addressing questions from parents and caregivers.
