Kuwait Airways flight to Manila grounded after minor pre-takeoff malfunction

A Kuwait Airways flight bound for the Philippines was delayed early Friday after a technical issue occurred while the aircraft was taxiing at Kuwait International Airport.

According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the incident took place at around 4:24 a.m. and involved flight KU417 carrying 284 passengers. DGCA spokesperson Abdullah Al-Rajhi said in a statement that a sudden malfunction in the plane’s braking system caused the disruption but stressed that there were no injuries among passengers or crew.

Al-Rajhi added that the damage was minor and confined to the aircraft’s fuselage. Technical teams immediately responded to secure the plane and conduct inspections to ensure it met all safety standards.

All passengers were later accommodated on a replacement flight, which departed safely at 12:20 p.m. Al-Rajhi reaffirmed that the safety of passengers and crew remains the “top priority” for both Kuwait Airways and the DGCA.
