Kris Aquino made an unexpected appearance at the PeopleAsia’s People of the Year 2025 event on Tuesday night, February 25, to show support for her close friend, fashion designer Michael Leyva, who was among the awardees.
Speaking briefly with the media, Kris expressed her gratitude to Michael, emphasizing his unwavering support. “There are people who say they’ll be there for you, but Michael has proven that so many times in so many ways,” she said, adding in jest that he had even given them two cars.
Her attendance coincided with the 39th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution, a historic moment tied to her late parents, former Senator Ninoy Aquino and former President Cory Aquino. However, Kris admitted she initially lost track of the date. “I actually thought today was the 24th,” she said, recalling that she was reminded only the night before.
Kris, who was seen wearing a yellow face mask, also briefly addressed her health, revealing that she had started a new medication that made it difficult for her to wake up. When asked how she was feeling, she candidly responded, “I’m not so okay. Nahihilo ako.”
Despite ongoing health struggles, Kris continues to find strength in the love and support of those around her. The short interview ended with a photo opportunity alongside Michael Leyva and members of the press.
