Apollo Quiboloy, the detained founder of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC), was taken to the hospital over the weekend due to pneumonia, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) confirmed on Tuesday.
Quiboloy, facing charges of child abuse, sexual abuse, and qualified trafficking, had been hospitalized in November at the Philippine Heart Center for an irregular heartbeat.
The BJMP reported that Quiboloy was transferred from the Pasig City Jail Male Dormitory to Rizal Medical Center (RMC) on Saturday, January 18, 2025, after complaining of breathing difficulties.
“The attending physician at RMC recommended hospital confinement with a diagnosis of community-acquired pneumonia,” the BJMP stated.
Due to limited facilities at RMC, Quiboloy was later moved to a private hospital, according to BJMP Spokesperson Supt. Jayrex Bustinera. The exact location of the private hospital was not disclosed for security and privacy reasons.
The BJMP assured the public that Quiboloy remains under their custody and that strict security measures are being enforced during his hospitalization.
