Kim Chiu and Darren Espanto assure fans after hospital visits during ‘Magpasikat’ training

Hosts Kim Chiu and Darren Espanto of “It’s Showtime” were unexpectedly rushed to the hospital amid their intense preparations for the show’s upcoming “Magpasikat” anniversary special. Both celebrities took to social media to share their health scares, though the exact reasons for their hospital visits remain undisclosed.

Darren Espanto posted a photo on Instagram on October 17, showing himself giving a thumbs-up, with a bandaged hand and the word “radiology” visible in the background, indicating that he was in the hospital for testing. “Tinodo masiyado sa training (I over-exaggerated my training) for ‘Magpasikat’ 2024,” Espanto wrote, hinting at the toll his rehearsals took on his health.

He also reached out to fans on X (formerly Twitter), asking for prayers for all the hosts and staff behind the show. “Waiting for my x-ray results! Ok naman po ako (I’m okay),” Espanto assured. “Please continue to pray for all the hosts… Ilaban natin ‘to! (Let’s go on with this!)”

Kim Chiu, on the other hand, posted a photo of herself inside an ambulance, followed by another image showing her hand with dextrose attached. “All good,” she reassured her followers, despite her health scare.

Fans were quick to express their concern for both hosts, with many urging them to prioritize their health. One netizen commented, “Health is wealth. Life is short, Kim.” Another added, “Darren extra ingat, please. We’ll pray even more for everyone’s safety.”

The “Magpasikat” segment, where hosts and cast members of “It’s Showtime” showcase their talents, is part of the show’s 15th anniversary celebration. Despite the health setbacks, both Chiu and Espanto remain committed to delivering a standout performance for their fans.
