Kiko Barzaga gets lost on way to anti-Marcos rally, ends up at wrong village

Cavite 4th District Rep. Francisco “Kiko” Barzaga, who has branded himself online as “Congressmeow,” drew both laughter and criticism after admitting that he went to the wrong location on his way to an anti-administration rally he organized in Makati City on Sunday night, October 13.

The 27-year-old lawmaker confessed on Facebook that he mistakenly went to Dasmariñas Village instead of Forbes Park, where the protest was meant to be held. “Dasmariñas Village pala napuntahan ko otw na ko sa Forbes Park waits ka lang SILG Remulla #PeoplePower,” Barzaga wrote in a post that quickly went viral.

For several minutes, Barzaga was seen outside the gates of Dasmariñas Village, taking selfies, greeting onlookers, and entertaining brief interviews before proceeding to Forbes Park. Upon finally reaching the correct location, he repeated the same routine—waving to supporters and chatting with attendees—before leaving after about 30 minutes.

The rally, which Barzaga had earlier hyped online with calls to “enter Forbes Park,” was heavily monitored by authorities. Over 600 police officers were deployed to secure the exclusive village as supporters and media gathered to see if the neophyte congressman would follow through with his bold statements.

Barzaga’s mix-up drew sharp commentary online. Lawyer Jesus Falcis, a vocal critic of the Cavite representative, ridiculed the incident in a Facebook post. “Good job daw kahit: (1) late siya dumating, (2) mali yung unang pinuntahan niya because akala niya ang Dasmariñas Village entrance sa EDSA ay pareho sa Forbes Park entrance, (3) hindi niya napasok ang Forbes Park kahit yun ang goal niya dahil ang pera daw ng taumbayan ay nasa loob,” Falcis wrote.

“This is what happens when a person is a narcissist and is detached from reality – he deludes himself in believing a false reality,” the lawyer added.

Despite the confusion, reports noted that Barzaga later joined critics of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at Rajah Sulayman Park in Manila—shifting his presence away from the fortified Forbes Park area. Some analysts described the move as a deliberate “cat-and-mouse” maneuver to outwit police deployment, while others dismissed it as another publicity stunt from the self-styled “congressmeow.”
