Actor and former politician Jomari Yllana recently achieved a significant milestone by completing his master’s degree in Public Administration at the Philippine Christian University. He joined fellow graduates in a ceremony held on November 29 at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.
Yllana dedicated two years to finishing his degree, crediting the pandemic as a turning point that encouraged him to pursue higher education. With support from his wife, Abby Viduya, he aimed to enhance his knowledge and skills for public service.
“Mas maganda matapos ko yung gusto kong gawin. The best feeling is giving back to the people na nagsupport sa akin bilang artista, race car driver as a public servant, and what better way is tapusin ko yung gusto kong pag-aralan,” Yllana shared.
Opting for a hybrid setup, Yllana balanced online and in-person classes to accommodate his busy schedule. He emphasized the importance of being well-equipped and continuously learning to serve effectively.
Abby, who expressed pride in her husband’s achievement, said, “It doesn’t matter how old you are, if you want to achieve something and you reach for your dreams. I am proud of you baby.”
At 48, Yllana is inspired to pursue further studies, considering a doctorate degree like his late father, a neuropsychiatrist and military doctor. “Walang imposible sa Diyos. Basta gustuhin mo, kayang kaya mo yan,” he remarked.
Yllana also confirmed he will not be running for public office in the upcoming 2025 midterm elections, choosing instead to focus on his personal and academic growth.
