In a recent interview with entertainment TV host Boy Abunda, actor John Lloyd Cruz confirmed his romantic relationship with artist-illustrator Isabel Santos. When questioned about the nature of their relationship, Cruz candidly replied, “Si Isabel ay girlfriend ko, oo or boyfriend niya ako” (Isabel is my girlfriend, or I am her boyfriend).
Cruz opened up about how their paths crossed, “We first met at their family’s art gallery, around the time I had just taken a break from ABS-CBN. I was exploring art and that’s where our journeys intertwined.” He shared that while they have known each other for a long time and had conversations in the past, their relationship didn’t evolve into something significant until more recently. However, since then, Santos has been a constant presence in his life.
The actor also shared his belief in marriage, highlighting Santos’s significant role in that belief. “The consideration is always there for both of us, especially for her,” Cruz added.
Isabel Santos, a talented illustrator, has been recognized for her work with at least seven exhibits since 2013. She has also been a part of artist residencies in notable locations like New York, Sur Seine in France, and Berlin, as per her official website. It was early in the previous year when fans first speculated about a budding romance between Cruz and Santos after seeing them together in public.
In the same interview, Cruz also discussed his son Elias with his former girlfriend, Ellen Adarna, who is now married to actor Derek Ramsay. He expressed his immense gratitude for the role Elias plays in his life, explaining that Elias brought newfound meaning and responsibilities. Regarding his co-parenting arrangement with Adarna, Cruz admitted to the challenges, emphasizing the importance of guiding Elias without being overbearing. He also expressed his gratitude towards Adarna and Ramsay for considering Elias’s best interests.
