Taiwanese actor Jerry Yan paid tribute to his late Meteor Garden co-star Barbie Hsu following news of her sudden passing at 48 due to pneumonia.
In a heartfelt message shared on Weibo, Jerry expressed his gratitude for having known Barbie, reminiscing about her carefree nature. “Thankful for meeting you… I hope you walk slowly this time. From now on, in another world, there will be no worries, and the years will be peaceful,” he wrote.
Jerry, best known for portraying Dao Ming Si in the hit 2001 drama, was Barbie’s on-screen love interest. Their series, Meteor Garden, gained immense popularity across Asia, leading to the formation of the boy band F4, which included Jerry, Vic Chou, Ken Chu, and Vanness Wu.
Fellow Meteor Garden stars Ken and Rainie Yang, who played Barbie’s best friend in the series, also shared their own tributes.
Barbie is survived by her husband, South Korean musician DJ Koo, and her two children from her previous marriage with Wang Xiao Fei. Her passing was confirmed by her family and agent through reports in South China Morning Post and Focus Taiwan.
