Actor Jericho Rosales publicly confirmed his relationship with Janine Gutierrez during the wake of her grandmother, iconic singer Pilita Corrales.
In a heartfelt moment captured in a video shared by Ecy Rapadas on April 17, Rosales took to the microphone at Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig City, where he expressed his admiration for Corrales and her family.
“I’m here because I am supporting an amazing family… If you want a definition of a family, this is the family,” Rosales said in front of guests.
He then officially revealed his relationship with Gutierrez, saying, “I’ve been so honored to just, you know, that I’ve been spending time with them, ‘cause I’m Janine’s boyfriend. Let’s just put it out there,” which drew warm reactions from the crowd.
Rosales also shared a personal anecdote about his mother, who has Alzheimer’s disease, and her deep admiration for the late singer.
“My mother has Alzheimer’s and she loves to sing a lot and the songs that she sings are songs of Pilita Corrales, so I always say that her songs just go beyond memory because it is embedded in her heart,” he said.
“Every time Janine goes to the house, mag-iiyakan sila ng 45 minutes because mama would sing Pilita Corrales songs to her and they’ll just cry and so I let them cry,” he added.
To honor Corrales, Rosales performed “Paglisan,” describing it as a “perfect picture of love.”
Corrales, known as Asia’s Queen of Songs, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 12.
