Jeju Air CEO apologizes after plane crash kills at least 124 in South Korea

The CEO of a South Korean airline has issued an apology following a tragic plane crash at Muan International Airport that left at least 124 people dead on Sunday, December 29.

In a brief media statement, CEO Kim E-bae expressed deep regret and stated that the cause of the crash remains under investigation. He emphasized that the aircraft had no prior accident record and showed no early signs of malfunction.

The crash involved Jeju Air flight 7C2216, which was arriving from Bangkok with 181 passengers and crew. The plane was attempting to land shortly after 9 a.m. local time when the incident occurred, according to the transport ministry.

Kim assured that the airline would fully cooperate with investigators and prioritize providing support to the victims’ families.
