PBA star and San Juan City councilor James Yap took to social media to greet his son Bimby on his 18th birthday—but not everyone was impressed.
In an Instagram Story posted recently, Yap shared throwback photos of himself with Bimby, his son with actress and TV host Kris Aquino. The post simply read: “Happy 18th Birthday Bimb! I love you!”
While some appreciated the rare public message, others were skeptical of Yap’s timing, pointing out that he is currently seeking reelection.
“Now he wants to look good just because it’s election season… what a joke, James. Deadbeat to the highest beat!” one user commented.
Another critic noted the photo’s age, writing, “Bimb looks so young in that pic, obviously he hasn’t visited him in years. The fathers of Kris’ kids are useless—no financial support, not even moral support.”
Yap, who now has two other children with Italian partner Michela Cazzola, has remained silent amid the criticism.
