Actor-singer James Reid has dismissed the possibility of reuniting with ex-girlfriend Nadine Lustre in future love team projects, out of respect for his current girlfriend, Issa Pressman.
In an interview with Ogie Diaz, Reid acknowledged the unwavering support for his former love team, “JaDine,” but made it clear that a reunion was unlikely. “There’s still that undying support that I’m always grateful for even as I transition to music,” he said, adding, “But out of respect for my girlfriend, Issa, I don’t think I’ll ever do another love team.”
Reid also expressed his hope that fans would move on from his past relationship with Lustre, admitting that the public scrutiny had been tough on all of them. “It’s been a very difficult year for me, also for Issa, and I’m sure for Nadine also, with all the noise, all of the bashing. Sana people can move on from all of that,” he said, calling it a “depressive episode.”
Despite the ongoing rumors, Reid clarified that he and Lustre have no issues with each other. “We have no problem,” he said, noting that he had even dated someone else after Lustre before getting into a relationship with Pressman.
Reid and Lustre, who first rose to fame together in the 2014 film Diary ng Panget, confirmed their breakup in 2020 after three years of dating, denying rumors that Pressman was the cause. However, three years later, Pressman and Reid confirmed their relationship publicly through social media.
Reid concluded by emphasizing that both he and Lustre are happy in their respective relationships, urging fans to let go of the past. “Hopefully people will just move on because they can see happy naman kami, happy naman sila. Tama na,” he added.
