Romance is undoubtedly blossoming between Jake Cuenca and Chie Filomeno, as revealed in recent interactions between the two stars.
A month after Chie acknowledged their growing closeness, Jake shared insights into why he is keen on pursuing a relationship with the actress.
In an intimate conversation with MJ Marfori on September 23, the 35-year-old actor affectionately referred to Chie as “the one that got away,” signifying a cherished individual who, for one reason or another, he never had a romantic relationship with. “In so many ways, she’s kinda like the one that got away for me,” Jake confessed.
Jake revealed that the pair had dated in the past, before rekindling their connection last year. He recalled, “We dated a long time ago… She was already dancing in Showtime.” The actor reminisced about their unexpected reunion at last year’s Star Magic Christmas Ball, where he bravely approached Chie in a scenario he likened to a movie scene. “It felt like something from a movie,” he said, emphasizing the serendipity of the encounter.
Chie, on her part, confirmed dating Jake recently and expressed her desire to take things slowly. She is intent on ensuring both are “ready and fully committed” before officially entering into a relationship. “We did date before a couple of times… And I was young back then. We accepted the fact that it didn’t continue,” she reflected.
This budding romance follows Jake’s breakup with former beauty queen Kylie Verzosa in April 2022, after three years of being together.
