Incoming Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has put to rest lingering speculation about a supposed rift between him and former Vice President Leni Robredo, saying there was never any animosity between them—even during their rivalry in the 2022 presidential elections.
In an interview with ANC, Moreno firmly denied having clashed with Robredo, stressing, “I didn’t fight Leni Robredo. With all honesty, I didn’t fight her.”
He emphasized that the issue has long passed, describing it as “water under the bridge.” Although they have yet to reconnect or speak in person, Moreno said he had extended help to some of Robredo’s allies during the recent midterm elections.
He revealed that he voted for Senators-elect Bam Aquino and Kiko Pangilinan, both of whom are known allies of Robredo. Aquino and Pangilinan secured second and fifth places respectively in the 2025 senatorial race.
“They asked for it, and I helped in my own little way… I don’t have much bitterness in life,” Moreno said. “When I stumble, I stumble, and learn my lesson.”
Despite past political differences, Moreno expressed openness to reconciliation. “Come. Let’s reconcile. I’m okay with that,” he added.
The former presidential candidate also noted that in the recent elections, he supported some individuals who previously hurt him. “I voted for them and even campaigned for them… it’s not about our politics. It’s always about serving the people,” he said.
