Austrian police have detained an 18-year-old Iraqi national as part of an investigation into an alleged ISIS-inspired plot to attack a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna. This arrest marks the third detention related to the plot, which led to the cancellation of three concerts on Swift’s Eras tour in Austria.
Authorities believe the teenager is linked to the main suspect, a 19-year-old Austrian with North Macedonian roots. Both individuals had recently pledged allegiance to ISIS. The investigation, which also uncovered explosive devices and propaganda materials, continues as authorities take decisive action against those involved in the planned attack.
The canceled concerts, which were expected to draw tens of thousands of fans, have left many disappointed. However, the timely intervention has been praised for preventing a potentially catastrophic event.
